“Ahh, get all of these bots off of me!  Can’t you see them?  I’m freakin’ out man!  I’m covered in little, crawly bots!”  - Any publicly available website.

Some time in the future websites will get all freaked out.  They’ll be out one night with a few users, having a little too good a time linking some of their content to one of the sluttier sites.  Somebody gives them some bad code, probably a Russian.  And their servers start freaking-the-fuck out.  And then they figure out that there’s all this stuff crawling about them, all these little bots, touching everything.  They panic…shut down, and promise never to do bad code again.

This isn’t just paranoia on the website’s part.  This is happening, right now.  Even here, at ModernSophist.com.  I’ve got a screener telling me there’s four of these little bastards crawling all up in my shit.

It starts as a joke but, if one looks to the future where absolutely everything is conscious (see Terminator, etc), it’s easy to personify the websites and imagine how creeped out they’re getting.

One day the news will be rife with stories of websites who went down the wrong track, who end up super burned-out and paranoid about all the little creepy crawlies.

Amazon will go to rehab.

Facebook will turn to Jesus.

Yahoo, who probably brought the bad code in the first place, will have last been seen in South America, where it is reported to be working in a garage somewhere, “getting back to its roots.”
