I had taken a flight to Manhattan, the red-eye, and awoken with a mixture of horror and certainty that I had an STD.
The rest of the morning has me trekking through a snow-covered New York, desperate for assistance, dismissed, and finally accepted, in one way or another, at an AIDS clinic in upper Harlem. I learned an awful lot that day. This is an audio recording of a story I wrote back in September, 2009.
